Squadron Change of Command

A change of command ceremony took place at the NGWG Commanders Call. Capt. Andy Wiggs took command of the Burlington Composite Squadron. The former commander, Maj. Jon Johnson, passed command to Capt. Wiggs in a ceremony conducted by NCWG CC Col. Larry Ragland.

Local Members Get Communcations Training

Senior members and cadets from the Burlington Composite Squadron participated in Advanced Communication User Training. The training took place at the North Carolina Wing headquarters facility in Burlington on Tuesday night. Each member was given an examination at the end of the training session to test their knowledge of communications procedures and protocol.

Change of Cadet Command

C/SMSgt Zachary Baughman assumed command of the cadets of the Burlington Composite Squadron at a ceremony this evening. The change of command ceremony took place at 1900 hours, and family and fellow squadron members welcomed the new Cadet Commander. The outgoing Cadet Commander, C/LtCol Jonathan Eng, transferred command before making a speech welcoming C/SMSgt Baughman. Afterward, there was cake and refreshments.

Change in Meeting Location

The members of the Burlington Composite Squadron will change their meeting plans for 28 April. At 1830, all members will meet at Laser-X on Church St. in Burlington. Afterward, the squadron will go to Ci-Ci's Pizza.

Casual civilian clothing is required for both cadets and senior members. The night's events will include a Cadets vs. Senior Members match at Laser-X.

Robert Hester Appointed as Major

Meeting Times Change

The weekly meeting times of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol's Burlington Composite Squadron will change on March 5th. Senior members and cadets of the squadron will meet every Tuesday night at 7:00PM at the Headquarters Building of the North Carolina Wing. The Headquarters Building is located at the Burlington Alamance Regional Airport at 3520 Alamance Road, Burlington, NC.

Everyone is invited to visit these squadron meetings to learn more about Civil Air Patrol volunteer opportunities and the cadet program for youth ages 12 and up. Adults and young adults can observe and participate in activities relating to Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, and the Cadet Program.

On March 5th, the senior members of the squadron will change their weekly meeting from Monday to Tuesday nights. The squadron cadets, aged 12 through 20, will change their weekly meeting location from the airport?s FBO building to the Wing Headquarters building.

The U.S. Civil Air Patrol, the official U. S. Air Force Auxiliary, is a civilian, volunteer, nonprofit, service organization. The unpaid members perform more than 85 percent of inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue and Coordination Center. Volunteers also take a leading role in aerospace education and conduct one of America?s finest youth program through CAP Cadet Programs.

There are more than 1,300 Civil Air Patrol members in North Carolina.

Local Pilot Passes Check Pilot Check Ride

Capt. Joey Surles of the Burlington Composite Squadron passed his Check Pilot Check Ride today. Upon approval by the wing commander, Capt. Surles can give CAPF 5 Check Rides to CAP members. Congratulations Joey!

Senior Member Completes CAPF5 Checkride

SM Bruce Keyes of the Burlington Composite Squadron completed his CAPF5 checkride. This makes him the squadron's newest pilot. SM Keyes took his checkride with Maj. David Gamble of the Southeast Greensboro Squadron. Congratulations to Bruce for his success! Thanks for you hard work, Bruce!
